Oriental astrology is connected with nine planets. Out of these Saturn is one. Its
position in the Zodiac at the time of birth is
considered to be very important for predicting the future of the newly born man or woman.
By nature, it is malefic and arrogant, its blessings are overwhelming and its wrath
creates a deluge of untold misery. Consequently, Saturn is universally worshipped, more
out of fear than reverence.
He, who directs his energies to propitiate Siva, circumvents the malefic influence of a
wrathful Saturn. Invariably, in a Siva temple of the South, a portion of the temple is
dedicated to the nine planets (Navagraha) including Saturn.
