Path Of Renunciation

Page: 1/2

Hindu Books > Hindu Scriptures > Bhagwad Gita > Free Corresponding Course On Bhagwad Gita > Path Of Renunciation

Page1

The wise see no difference between Sanyaasa, the renunciation of selfish activities, and Karma-yoga, the performance of one's worldly duty as a Seva. The renunciation or Sanyaasa, according to the Gita, does not mean leaving this world and living in the forest. (5.04)

Both, the Karma-yogi and the Sanyaasi living in the forest, reach the same goal. One who can see the path of renunciation and the path of Seva as the same, really understands. Seva is Sanyaasa. (5.05)

Sanyaasa is the goal, and Karma-yoga is a means to achieve the goal. Sanyaasa is, therefore, difficult to attain without Karma-yoga. A Karma-yogi sage attains Brahman. (5.06)

One who does all work as an offering to the lord, without greed and attachment to the fruits of work, is untouched by sin (or the Karmic reaction) as a lotus leaf is untouched by water. (5.10)
