Temple Of Vasistha Introduction

Vasisthasrama or the hermitage of Vasistha is situated about ten miles to the east of the town of Gauhati. It is situated in beautiful natural surroundings. Here are three streams called Sandhya, Lalita and Kanta. A bath here is said to increase longevity. A temple of Siva is attached to the hermitage of Vasistha.

There are no regular buses to Vasisthasrama. The visitors have to make use of the taxis and other means of transport from Gauhati to reach this sacred place. We have very many legends about sage Vasistha which make him stand ‘at the cross-roads of political and social changes’ in Assam.
