The Sun-God has been worshipped in India from very ancient times.

The vedas say that the worship of the Sun curse many diseases.

The Gayatri Mantra is addressed to the Sun-God. If we recite it regularly our intellect becomes sharp.

In India, particularly in the north, there are many Sum-temples.

The Martanda temple in Kashmir, the Modhera temple in Gujarat and the temple at Konark are some of them.

The most famous among these is the Sun Temple at Konark.

This place was called Maitreya Vana in the days of old.

Although the temple appears to be in ruins, it is still most beautiful.
