Dr.C.Rajagopalachari Page1

Free yourself from lust, anger, greed, and delusion. Meditate an who you are. Ask of yourself: Who am I? The fool’s who-fail to understand the self is caught even here in hell-fire and surer torture.

A desire wells up in a man's heart. He thinks that he can be happy if that desire is satisfied. He exerts himself to the utmost for that purpose. But there is no end to the steps on the ladder of desire. And it does not allow him to see the endlessness of his desire. We try to climb up the steps of a tread- mill. As we ascend, the steps on the wheel go down.

It looks as it we are getting up; but as we get up one step, the step we have ascended goes down; and a new step appears before us. There is no end to the steps and our labor too is equally unending. Till we die, we keep on getting up. It would appear that we can be at rest if we go up one step but it is not possible to be satisfied with it. A fresh desire comes up. This is the way of all desires.
