Raja Ram Mohun Roy is the father of modern Indian renaissance.

By renaissance we mean a new birth or revival.

Some years ago we celebrated the second centenary of his birth, to show our gratitude to him.

Ram Mohun was born in a village in Bengal in 1772. His father Rama Kant Roy and his mother Tarini were well known for their religious devotion.

Ram Mohun had his early education in his village pathasala.

Later on, he went to Patna to learn, the Persian and Arabic language under famous teachers.
