Zarathushtra Page1

YOU might have seen Fire Temples in a city like Bombay.

The people who worship in these temples are Parsis. 'They wear a tall black cap and white Kurta or tunic. They also wear a sacred thread.

They are followers of a religion taught by a great prophet by name Zarathushtra. He was also called Zoroaster.

Zarathushtra was born some 3000 years ago.He lived in the country now called Iran. It is far away from India. It's old name was Persia. Since the religion came from Persia, those who belong to it are called Parsis.

When Zarathushtra was a child, wicked People tried to kill him by throwing him among fierce bulls, and then among horses' feet. But the child was not harmed.

When Zarathushtra grew to be a young man. God Ahura Mazda appeared before him. God taught him what to do, and what truths he should preach to the world. Zarathushtra then spread the Zoroastrian religion with the help of the King of Iran.

The Parsis had to run away from Iran because Trivaders started persecuting them.
