Today Ayodhya is a small town near Fyza -bad in northern India. In ancient times, it was a great city. It was the capital of Kosa -ladesa. Many great kings ruled in this part, of the country.

Manu was its first king. It was he who built this city.

The word Ayodhya means invincible no one can fight against the city and win.

Ikshvaku, Mandhata, Harischandra, Dasha -ratha and Sri Rama were some of its rulers.
