You have read about Gautama, the Buddha.

The followers of the Buddha are known as the Buddhists.

The Uposatha is a Buddhist festival. It is a day of fast. It comes round every month. Hindus fast on Ekadasi or the eleventh Lunar day.

Among the Buddhists, there are monks. They wear yellow robes. You might have seen some of these monks.

These monks fast, and also read and preach the teachings of the Buddha and meditate on them on these Uposatha days.

Other -pious Buddhists who are not monks also fast on these days.
