Badarinath is a
holy place on the Himalayas. There we have the temple of God Badari Narayana.
It is at a height of over 10,000 ft.
The temple contains the idols of the deity Badari Narayana and the Rishis Nara and
Narayana.
In this cold place, there is a hot-water spring in front of the temple. It is called
Tapta-kund.
People bathe in it before entering the temple.
From very ancient times people have gone on pilgrimage to this Kshetra.
Formerly they used to go on foot. Now they travel most of the distance by bus. The rest
they cover on foot or on ponies. Old people are carried by porters on chairs.
