Tiruvengadu - Nandi with wounds Introduction

The sacred shrine of Tiruvengadu is situated about seven miles south-4east of Shiyali R.S. in the Tanjore District, between the rivers Kaveri and Manikarnika. Metalled roads easily reach it from Shiyali, Vaitheeswaran Koil, Semponnar Koil and Akkur Railway Stations on the Madras- Mayavaram line. There are many choultries near the temple for the convenience of pilgrims and tourists.

The temple measures 792 feet by 310 feet and is situated in the heart of the town, surrounded on all sides by 5 prakarams known as Pancha Prakarams. There are some prominent gopurams, which add to the beauty of the temple.
