Every one of us must have a goal in life. Otherwise life will become aimless. It will be like a ship that has no rudder.
One man may want to become a millionaire, another an engineer and a third a doctor. These
are no doubt good goals; but the highest goal of life is to reach God.
Our rishis have built a flight of four steps, one above the other to
reach that goal. By stepping on them one by one, we can reach the highest goal.
These four steps are Dharma, Artha, Kama and Moksha.
These are known as Purusharthas.
The word Dharma means that which holds society and the
world.
By following its rules, one becomes virtuous.
For our purpose we may describe Dharma as right conduct.
