At the end of the penance the king turned to a hill after whose name the hill is called Sobhanadri or Sobhanagiri.

As a result of his penance, Lord Siva and Kesava took their permanent residence’s the top of the Sobhanadri and kept their promise to king Subhavratha.

This renowned temple in Andhra, which attracts thousands of worshippers every year, has also got certain historical connections.

In the seventeenth century two people named Devulapalli Atchyutabhaktudu and Anantabhaktudu were spending their lives, devoting most of their times to the worship of Atithi and Abhyagati, i.e., they worshipped the Lord and the guest.

On one day, the Lord appeared in a dream to Atchyutabhaktudu and told him that he was buried in darkness on the Sobhanadri hill and that Atchyutabhaktudu should resuscitate him and makes arrangements for the conduct of the regular worship.

Immediately Atchyutabhaktudu from his dream and was Pleased by the Lord's grace in having given him an opportunity to be of service to the he intimated the facts of the previous night's dream Anantabhaktudu and to his astonishment he learnt from Anantabhaktudu that he too had the same experience on previous night in a dream.
