Where is
a city called Bethlehem, far away from India. Long, long ago a carpenter called Joseph
lived there. He had a wife called Mary. They were good and pious people, but poor.
God was pleased with them. He came to earth and was born as their
son. They called him Jesus.
When he was born, a bright star appeared in the sky. Many
wise men who saw it,knew that it meant the birth of God on earth. So they came to
Bethlehem to pray to the god -child Jesus Christ. It was on Christmas day, December
twenty-fifth.
So we celebrate Christ’s birth-day, year after year,
on Christmas day.
Jesus became a great religious teacher. He taught us to
love one another. He was against force and violence. "If a man strikes you on one
cheek," he said, "show him the other. " He preached peace on earth and
goodwill towards all.
