Introduction
About a mile from the confluence of River Kaveri with the sea, known as Kaveri- patnam,
and two miles from Tiruvengadu, there exists a very old temple dedicated to Siva known as
Chayavaneswarar. The place is known as Chaikadu (Chayavanam).
