Kanaiyalal Maneklal Munshi' s versatility and achievements were in a a way unique. he was an eminent awyer, one of the framers of India's Constitution and a seasoned statesman. Coming under the inspiring nfluence of Sri Aurobindo during his student days, Munshi became an ardent fighter for India's freedom orking at different stages in close association with Jinnah, Tilak, Besant, mahatma Gandhi, Sardar Patel and Pandit Nehru. His achievements as Home Minister of Bombay in 1937, as India's Agent-General in yderabad before the Police Action, as India's Food Minister and as Governor of Uttar Pradesh were characterized by rate courage and decisive energy.
Acknowledged as the foremost writer in Gujarati in his times, his contribution to literature was vast as t was varied, including novels, dramas, memoirs and history in Gujarati, besides several historical and other works in English, notable "Gujarat and its Literature", "Creative Art of Life", "To Badarinath", Saga of Indian Sculpture", "The End of An Era", "Krishnavatara" and "Tapasvini".
