There is no greater wealth than the possession of a mind that is free from
envy. The envying of others' possessions is equivalent to poverty. It makes one,
though in possession of wealth, go through as much misery as poverty causes. The misery
cannot be remedied by any acquisition of wealth or other sources of joy, as 'he cause of
pain arises from outside oneself, viz., in another's wealth.
Hence to be endowed with a
temperament free from envy is the greatest blessing on earth. It is he that cares
not for his own spiritual. Or material well being that allows his mind to entertain
envious thoughts instead of feeling happy when he sees the well being of others.
