There is a
legend stating that Bhairava is none else than Siva in his Ghora Swarupam, i.e., in rage,
and hence in all Siva temples he has been assigned a more prominent place than
Chandikeswara who is supposed to be in charge of the entire temple. It is interesting to
see that a shrine is dedicated to Bhairava (one of the other forms of Siva) in this great
Vaishnavite temple. There is an interesting legend
connected with the Kshetra Palaka of this temple. In those days after finishing all pujas
and
worship in the night the priest used to lock the ' door of
the temple and entrust the keys to Kshetra Palaka. One day,it so happened that the
priest locked the doors leaving his child inside the temple and handed over the keys to
Kshetra Palaka. Then he found his child missing. |
