When you are down in luck, make neither
friends nor enemies; be neutral even as regards those whom you have found reason to trust
or to distrust.
Do not show your weakness to your enemies,
nor even seek relief by communicating your difficulties to your friends if they are not
aware of them already.
Statecraft consists in getting support
without letting your weakness be known.
Procrastination is folly. A thorny shrub
should be removed when it is yet young. If you let it grow and then try to remove it, you
will only hurt your hands.
They will be surely destroyed who fail to
take timely action to curb the strength of their enemies. |
