VIDYARANYA |
|
Thus the
Vijayanagara Kingdom
came into being. He crowned Harihara as its first King. Thus Vidyaranya was able to fufil
the wishes of God Virupaksha too. To three generations of the Vijayanagara rulers,
Vidyaranya was the guide.
Later on, Vidyaranya became the head of the Sankaracharya Mutt at Sringeri, where his Guru
had also been the Head. It is said that Sringi, the Brahmarakshas, is fed
even today at Sringeri.
In his last days Vidyaranya entered a cave at the Vindhya hills and never returned.
Behind Virupaksha temple at Hampi, there is a shrine specially dedicated to Saint
Vidyaranya.
There is an idol of the saint in that temple and people worship it even today.
The most famous work of Vidyaranya is the Panchadasi. It is a classic on Advaita Vedanta.
We must pay homage to the memory of our saints and seers. |
