There are good
facilities for pilgrims. In fact Mahanandi is not only a place of pilgrimage but also a
place of picnic. The main festival is of course Sivarathri during the Maghabahula
Chaturdasi in February. The other festivals like Dasara, Ugadi etc., are also important. The temple has been attracting pilgrims from far and near and, though it
has suffered some eclipse during the periods of internecine political warfare in the
country, its sanctity has 'never been dimmed. Mahanandi is a symbol of staunch
faith, which flourishes despite the ravages of time and circumstances. In mute eloquence
it stands looking with detachment upon the human cycles of fortune and misery, chanting as
it were, the glory of the Vedic, religion. |
