For further
details of this human sacrifice we have to turn to Tikha Kalpa, a manuscript work found in
the Manipur State Library, an extract of which was published in B.B. Brown's 'An Outline
Grammar of the Deori Chutiya Language':
"Human sacrifices are made, after the royal consent has been obtained, on the
occasion of public calamities such as war or for the purpose of obtaining great wealth
.... A Brahman or a woman should never be sacrificed. Neither should one sacrifice one's
own body, as then he will be guilty of the sin of suicide. |
