| Vasistha grew
furious and pronounced the following terrible curse on Ugra Tara and her associates: - "O you woman, since you being a woman (vama) are expelling me also,
you will henceforth be worshipped according to vamaccra (left-handed) rites. Your hosts
roving about like Mlecchas will henceforth be degraded to the rank of Mlecchas. Since Siva
himself is anxious to see me off, he will henceforth receive only the worship of the
Mlecchas, being always covered over with ashes and carrying bones. This land of Kamarupa
will be ruled over by Mlecchas and till the advent of Visnu all the Saivite scriptures
(agamas) will be rarities." |
