According to the Buddhist faith, the Padmasambhava meditated
somewhere here for 25 years. His Holiness the Dalai Lama and His Holiness the Panchan Lama
visited the shrine during the year 1957. In memory of their visit, they planted two trees
of Magnolia Grandiflora, which are now in full bloom.
Guru Gobind Singh, the tenth Guru of the
Sikhs, had visited Rewalsar during a three-day Balmiki fair. The Sikhs have built a
Gurudwara here in memory of his visit. The place is also sacred to the Namdhari Sikhs.
They believe that the founder of the
Namdhari sect, Satguru Shri Ram Singh Ji will appear in the Rewalsar area in person, some
time or the other. They also believe that when there will be a deluge (Maha Pralay) the
Rewalsar area will remain safe and those living in this area will survive. |
