There is a
shrine in the western portion of the prakaram,dedicated to Yoganarasimha who also gives
darsan in GhoraSwarupam. He is known as Jwala Narasimhar. To cool him down, abhishekam is
done to the deity
everyday with curd, milk, etc. A big opening is provided in
the ceiling just above his head, through which his anger and fury are radiated out. There
are also shrines dedicated to Parthasarathy, Manduka Maharshi, Ashtabhuja
Krishna,Nartana Krishna, Saraswati, the Alwars, Ramanuja and many deities of lesser
importance. The temple is said to be guarded
perpetually by a local Tamil deity known as Karuppanna -swami, whose other names are Peria
Karuppan, Siria Karuppan,Mandai Karuppan, Toti Karuppan,Kummatti Karuppan, Pazhaya
Karuppan, etc. He is also known as Krishna Putran. |
