But he was very
kind towards the poor. He was the leader of a gang of robbers. They burgled and looted
vicious people and helped the poor. Kaladutaka was, at the same time, a very pious man and
worshipped Lord Vaikunthanatha every day. He gave half of what he earned to the temple and
after taking what was needed for his subsistence distributed the remaining portion among
the poor.
As the king was not ruling the country properly the poor suffered a lot. So Kaladutaka
decided to raid the palace. While doing so, all his fellow-robbers were caught by the
King, but Kaladutaka made good his escape, ran to the temple of Srivaikunthanatha and fell
unconscious before the idol. |
