The
story goes that once Kanakadas the saint singer - vaggeyakara visited Udipi
during his wanderings. As he had nothing to own except his tambura and fertile
brain that composed songs., Poor artist none recognised his inner
potentialities. So he was sleeping on pail in the nights and singing throughout
the day. To crown all as it were, he was barred from admission into the temple
for worship due to belonging to Panchama caste. but H.H. Vadiraja,
the Madhva Pithadhipathi, realising his commendable evolution of soul. arranged
for his stay in a cottage just out side the first prakara. The untouchables in
those days were subjected to most dishonorable indignities. He was no exception.
On setting down in the cottage munificently arranged by the Pitadhipati lie was
spending whole time singing, singing and sinking. Now read.
