Diseases are cured with several systems of medicines made with a wide variety of ingredients that set at nougat  worms etc. trying their best to derange the normal functioning of the body organism. Roots and leaves,  flowers and hard substances go into making of the medicines. Some animal parts are not excluded.

But to see small round mud pills given as medicine for curing digestive disorders, it is some thing queer, is not it? They are sold, and the buyers are getting cured of the ailments affecting from mind. body and soul. The sellers are the crafty priests thriving by the grace of that great heavenly doctor, abiding in a temple, his earthly abode. The jackal priests go to the extent of saving that the mud globules act as penance-a sarvaroganivarini, curing the diseases body, mind and spirit. All due to the abundant grace of that compassionate Paramasiva, who taking pity on the war victims cured, during Murugan's waging a war against that wicked Surapadman, the terror of Mullokas-upper, nether and the earth.

The globules  they further add are prepared with the mud of the Siddhamrita tank which was materialised by a great sage for holding the amrita used for the abhisheka of the Lord. The temple priests offer sandal paste, neem leaves as prasad to curing all types of diseases. As the temple is presided over by Paramasiva in the names of Vaidyanatha , it is appropriate.
