WORSHIP OFFERED WITH NAKED BODIES

The believers are vociferous in their statements and urge, compel, coerce their nearer. and dearer to follow suit. And lo! this belief is increasing in the numbers of devotees as the craze is conferring tangible results sooner or later. This is a regular feature held periodically when huge crowds visit and participate in special prayer services are offered. The famous Mariamman temple at Periapalam village lying on the Chennai -Uthukoti highway is practicing odd traditions and thousands of women are performing worship to the universal Mother Mariamman for carefree daily existence and they are blessed without reservation.

This bizarre belief practiced here though confined to women only, there is another sacred temple in, the state of Karnataka, where males also worship in the similar manner. And there are blessed with what they worshiped for. This is going on periodically making the temple a yatrasthala. Atheists may denigrate and agnostics too cry down this practice as nothing but barbarous, but it is going non-stop with increased following
