"He's
nothing, simply nothing before our Britishers, might,
Live on nuts and chants truth and non-vilence day and night
Clads in loin cloth and goes about with people of class lowest
Cares not for wealth, or mirth, nor any covetable post highest.
Yet that simpleton managed the cracking of our empire
Set at nought our divide and rule policy age long
Thwarted our attempts at expanding colonial empire
Fought like soldier with weapons of saint all along.
What a paradox! Never injures the enemies with arms
Much less insults under provocation by force of arms
Nor does incite the followers to resort to use of arms
What's more, pleads with enemy of his enemy to drop arms.
And lo! rushes aid scenting danger to our person
Observes fast unto death, if any side relies on force
Bends his bald head to batons, or acts of treason
Welcomes jail with a smile to avert brute force.
Teaches mankind a brand of resistance and revolt
A new creed of hatred directed not against rulers
But against the hatred of the oppressing rulers
Hates serfdom and advocates non-violent revolt.
