'East
and West, the twain shall never meet' said once a creative writer of global
reputation. It is bereft of truth, cent percent and baseless absolutely,
positively, immutably and consistently too. It's nothing but the projection of
his colour prejudice; for, it is the East that opened the eyes of the West to
the glories of culture, why that alone, everything laudable of theirs, and
others too. In fine, it closed down barbarity and opened up civilisation.
Mellowed wisdom recognised, assimilated and propagated it with candor, that is
peerless. Some illustrious votaries ardently desired to be born in their next
life, if there be any, in India to imbibe, inhale, and inherit it to posterity.
Their frank submission enriched their culture and glorified our nation. Isn't
then their uninhibited exultation emulation worthy? Alas! the ill-digested
blind power instead of throwing a halo over its head is placing a crown of
thorns. As irony would have it, it alone divinised them. See such-a-one going
about barefoot near Walden pond ......
