In
the meanwhile, Kusuma Sreshti elaborately prepared for the
'Send-off' 'function in the palatial mansion. At the appointed hour;
numerous officers, city elders, intellectuals, artists, women of all
classes took their seats according to protocol in the gaily
decorated hall. The emperor seated on a diamond studded throne,
surveyed from one corner to another of the assembled persons and
felt superbly pleased with their demeanour and deportment.
In the
customary fashion, the emperor was presented with Mangalanirajana by
a bevy of lovely blooming virgins called `gourabalikas', headed by
Vasavamba, the matchless, enchanting damsel, the pride of the
capital, princess of Penugonda.
