Of
the people who reacted adversely to the king's decision, Kusumamba
stood-first. She deplored it, but bemoaning said that Vishnu Vardhan's recent
military conquests and his invincible forces would wipe out their petty vassal
state in a trice, and enmity with such mighty emperor would be detrimental; the same time she was unwilling to give Vasavamba to him in marriage. She
suggested that her marriage with some suitable local groom at once would solve
the problem and implored her Lord to make arrangements for instant
solemnization.
But
it was resented, as it would lead to unforeseen catastrophe and end in
annihilation of whole state and people enmasse; for, the power-mad
Kamapisachi's huhger would be appeased only with the sight of heaps ashes of all
belonging to his opponents, if contrary takes place. Kusuma Sreshti's foresight
confirmed this.
