Reason of his
Descent
It begins in Kailas and ended here. According to mythology once Narada, the
manasaputra of Brahma gave a fruit to Lord Siva during his darbar and said that
it was a rare phal imbued with gnana, and Siva was the only fit person to eat
it. And wholly at it. Sooner than handing over, there were heard boisterous
claims by Vinayaka and Muruga for it. Siva decided to present it to the fittest
alone.
So he said, "It is a prize to any, who completes the Bhupradakshina
first, and he alone will get it." Subrahmanya sitting on his mount peacock
started, but Vinayaka went round his parents with folded hands and said that
father and mother are gods and going round them amounts to going round the
world. So he was entitled to the prize.
