MADHUPIRI - KANKALI DEVI MANDIR

Kankali is a corrupt form of Kamsakali Legends say that she was born to Yasoda and predicted early death of Kamsa when he tried to kill her on this spot, forming tile jail, where Devaki and Vasudev were imprisoned. This place is deemed very sacred and auspicious for worship. The story goes that there was a Jain temple and Bouddha Vihar in the dim past and later was converted into a temple by Hindus.

It is named Kankali Tila after building a temple for Kankali devi. Due to ravages of time the temple went out of existence.  And the ruined site was bought by a pandit called Tularam from Raja Sate Lakshmi Das. As he could not renovate by himself, he thought of raising a gaden and started digging operations.
