MASARH - DEVI SHRINE

Opposite the diva temple there lies another shrine exclusively built for Mother Devi. The temple came into existence recently but the archamurti is ancient. It was installed by local devotees, building a beautiful modern shrine befitting
the status of the universal Mother. It is quite decent and sublime modest and modern in appearance but grandest in construction due to exuding of  modernity. An interesting feature of this Devi is her feet rests on peacock representing,
Mother Sarada, but some are of opinion that the image may be of Kartikeya, whose vehicle is peacock. Despite arguments, priests are offering worship to the icon treating it as the Universal Mother. The single cellar shrine contains many images of the adorable gods like Ganesh, Saraswati, Nandi, Sivalinga. Vishnu, etc , in perfect shape with many other mutilated images of the deities belonging to Buddhist and Hindu religions. Daily puja is offered with due devotion. Among the periodical festivals Chaitra Navami and Vijaya Dasami are celebrated with great pomp and splendour. Huge crowds congregate and offer special pujas. The melas held during these days last for weeks.

It lies in Sahiabad district of West Bengal connected both by rail and road and at about two kilometers from Karisat railway station on the main line of Eastern Railway.
