Nestled in the lap of holy Himalayas, this ancient keshera - Bhavani is
receiving ardent devotion from the pious theists ever since Rama bhakta Hanuman
returned from Lankarajya after putting to death the ten headed denon
Ravamabrahma and his asurabalaga. The legend embodies an account that Hanuman
passionately desired the conquest of Sri Rama to be published and perpetrated by
some monuments that would herald the glory of Ramarajya. So he brought the
sacrosanct image of Kesheerabhavani from Lanka and installed in a befitting
shrine at this remote village the northern end of Bharatha varsha. Since then
this potent archamurthi is being adored with great religious fervour
The
Mother is a ashtabhuja-eight armed exuding tranquility from her broad lotus eyes
lighting up her enchanting visage. She has a passion for raining boons on the
genuine bhaktas, and as her compassion relieved people from the unfordable seas
of troubles she entered into the hearts of devotees and looking after them as
mother. Is she not the Universal Mother? Did she ever desert her own dearest?
With the passage of time, her glory is ascending and her ardent devotees are
enjoying carefree existence. During the periodical events, huge crowds congregate
and offer prayers with great devotional favour.
It
lies 31 km off Srinagar and can be reached from Pathankot in four wheelers.
