Omkareswar
Siva mandir is one of the Dwadasa Jyotirlinga Sivaalayas that perched at a
covetable place in the Saiva puranas. Its location on the famous Mandhata
parvath on the bank of river Narmada has enchased its glory to a thousand fold.
Just a few kilometers off this renowned saiva kshetra there lies a Sakti-Peeth
equally great in spiritual eminence and is drawing streams of yatris round the
year. This is popular as Saathmatra in colloequial tongue standing for the most
poewerful and ardently worshipped
Saptamatrukas - Brahmi, Maheswari, Vaishnavi, Koumari, Varahi, Indirani and
Narasimhi. Each has a separate shrine and worship is offered independently with
rituals due. Almost all the theists who visit Omkareswar temple fail not
visiting these mandirs. As they ward off evil forces affecting people, elaborate
pujas and nithyanaimithika worship is offered with unprecedented spiritual fervour. As it is counted one of the
Sakti-Peethas in the Tantric literature
attraction for visitation is more and visitors enjoy mental peace and commercial
prosperity, if genuine prayers are offered. The Mothers too are conferring boons
lavishly without reservation. The craze for adoration by both gay tourists and
pious theists is very great.
It lies near Omkareswar
temple accessible by four wheelers from Ujjain.
