The
sanctum of Devi Sivakami Sundari lies to the left of NataraJa's shrine. Normally devotees reach the Nataraj sannidhi fast . The stone steps bunt to
ascend the Chit Sabha, where Nataraja is installed are five in number and they
mystically represent the five letter of the Panchak shara mantra 'OMNAMASIVAYA'.
The doors bear the embossed representation of the Sages
Vyagrapada and PatanajalI. After availing the darsan of Nataraj and realising the
Chidambara Rahasam, visitors move to the amman sannidhi.
The
SIvakamI amman koil lies in the first prakara and is equally rich in sculptural
adornments. It is an independent temple possessing all the essential parts. The
granie icon of the Mother adorned with dazzling diamond decked jewels and
rustling silks lifts the souls and wrings veneration. The brightly illumined
garha griha adorned with rave sculptural pieces along with the granite icon of
the Mother in standing posture detains the devout visitors longer and transport
them to the blissful world. Agamic puja is offered with elaborate rituals.
Periodical festivals independent of the main shrine are celebrated with great
zeal. Through lying in the vast campus of the Nataraja
temple it has all the parts and functions as an independent temple. No visitors
misses this miss-not treasure.
It lies in the heart of Chidambaram, accessible by walk from bus stand.
