This
fast developing historic town perching at a
covetable place in the industrial map of Tamil Nadu, boasts of several places of
worship that elevated its spiritual glory to a commendable degree deserving
attention and visitation. Among the scores of holy visit worthy - places, Kottai
Mariamman Koil takes pride of place. Though there are nearly ten holy places
worship lying at the foot of the little hill bearing historical relics, such as
Saneshwar Koil, Jyothi Ramalingaswamy Koil, Adi parasakti Koil, Ayyappan Koil,
Hanuman Koil etc., the magnetic pull exerted by this Mariamman is indescribably
great. Its spell does not work on mass alone, but it is equally seen on class,
and what is more there lavish spending on celebration of yearly festivals, in
addition to lusty participation speeks volumes of glory of the Mother.
It
is an ancient temple built in the Dravidian architectural style with high
compound wall, vast courtyards, mandapas, parivaradevatas etc.
