  RAMESWARAM - PARVATHAVARDINI TEMPLE

THE TEMPLE:

Parvathavardhini shrine lies to the right side of the main sanctum sanctorum. The beautiful image of Mother decorated with diamond jewellery and flower garlands lifts the soul. The grasite icon of the Mother measures about four feet to height and the superb crafts manship of the sculptor arrest. attention and raises hands. In front of the mandapam there are grand figures of Rama, Sita, Lakshman. Hanuman and Sugriva the principal characters in the epic and they beckon attention and veneration. To its north lies the Kasi Viswanath shrine in which the lingam brought by Hanuman from Kailas is installed. The Visalakshi mandir lies adjacent to it Daily prayers are offered to these deities first and then to Ramanatha swamy and Mother Parvathavardhini. Although it is a part of the Ramanathaswamy temple, it is quite independent and possesses all parts and they are imposing and grand. Having enjoyed royal munificence the temple displays unique architectural skill as exploited the magnificent and worlds longest corridors measuring 400 feet in length 21 feet in height blanked by Ornate pillars.

Among festivals, Sarnnavaratri, Tirukalyanam, Vaikunta Ekadasi, Sivaratri, Ramalinga Pratishta and Float festival are mention worthy and are celebrated with fanfare due.

It lies on the sea shore of Rameswaram temple town accessible by bus or train.
