The
Mother's shrine has its Rajagopuram and in front of this there is a mandap with
96 big stout pillars each with a characteristic nature. There is another mandap
with 1000 pillars and it is here Mother's Kalyanotsav is celebrated in Aipassi
masa and Vunjalseva on a grand scale with splendour end pomp matching her glory
Lakhs of people participate with great
exuberance. No visitor to this district headquarters town misses seeing this
sacred ancient temple, as it fills the soul with bliss and prepares him face
ordeals righteously. The Mother looks always like bride in full splendour
donning gorgeous dress and dazzling jewels. It is said that Parvathi and
Maheswar descended straight to this place after wedding in Kailas to keeping the
word given to Agasthya. Hence that unusual charm and grandeur.
It
lies in the centre of town, about 2 km. off station and bus stand accessible by
city bus.
