THE
MANDIR:
The
present temple is surrounded by busy commercial establishments. As we proceed
passing through the shopping complex, we see first Annapurna temple on the right
side. It is small, but studded to the portals with very many adorable deities.
The image of Goddess about four feet in height is in sitting posture with the
icon of Maheswar standing with a bowl in her front is extremely grand and invoke
instant veneration. Here the Mother is infinitely majestic and seems radiating
comparision on the viewers, as evidenced by the beaming face and smiling eyes.
May be due to holding the office august of feeding the whole universe there is
emerging some inner contentment making her inside bewitching most all mature.
This pardonable pride emanating from her curled up lips for making the most
formidable Jagath rakshaka also stand in front of her with a begging in hand is
quite justifiable, says the ariest. There are many niches and mandapas adored
with many deities. Offering prayers we reach the garbha griha of Maheswar.
It
is about 6 km off Almora, accessible by bus and on foot.
