  MATATILA DAM - MATA SHRINE

Bhasnah is a corrupt form of Bhasmasur, a formidable demon who on getting the potent boon of turning into ashes any object by mere placing his hand, tried his best to test the efficacy of it by placing his hand on Lord Maheswar, his benefactor, but was out-witted by Sri Maha Vishnu. That land lying at the foot of Vindhya mountains is housing many hoary temples and is progressing stupendously well with Matatila Dam built on the river Betwa. It is here lies a grand shrine of Mata built atop a hillock. And it is in close vicinity of the Dam. It is provided with a flight of stairs and so access to the Mother's sannidhi is easy and pleasant. It is visited by tourists and locals working in the offices of the dam.

Regular worship is offered with due reverence. On account of an enchanting garden and beautiful illumination arrangements, it enjoys a unique place and it has turned out a cynosure of perennial attraction of picnickers and joyous tourists. It resembles Brindavan garden situated at KRS near Mysore. Its tourist potential is its plus point and the gay bands of visitors invariably visit this shrine to receiving the begin blessings of the Mother. Its attraction for class is more, although mass also form a good chunk of the visitors. The temple built in modern times with latest style has become a paradise for youth, as it is equipped with many facilities and hence great attraction.

It lies near Jhansi; accessible by bus.
