The
glory of this temple is recorded both in history and legends. Being
very ancient, it was lying buried unadorned till about a century and
more back much loss unrecognized. The Moolavar was worshipped by
Agasthya mahamuni in the dim past. Later in the Kaliyuga, Tribhuvana
chakravarti adored and endowed it liberally. The excavation of the
temple was undertaken by one great devotee by name Thambirangal and
hence it is also called popularly as Thambirangal sthanam popularly.
It is very near to sea - the Bay of Bengal and was a very famous
yastrasthala in the past. The temple is very big, but renovation has
not yet brought out its former glory.
It
lies about 12 km off Kadalur accessible by bus.
