Uniqueness
of Apomurti Kshetra
It is one of the Panchabhutasthalas called by different names, such
as Tiruvanaikkaval, Jambukeswar etc. They have legendary proof and
significance and bear the vestiges of ancient glory, illustrating
the sports of Uma and Maheswar. This is the holy seat of Apomurti -
one of the eight murtis of Lord Siva. The temple is fairly a big
one, enshrining the holy Jalalinga, besides the usual Sivalinga
representing Jambukeswar. And both are receiving prayer services
regularly on a scale grand and fervor commendable.
It
lies just a - mile off the world renwoned Sri Ranganatha Temple at
Srirangam in Tiruchirapalli district of Tamil Nadu, and is
attracting thousands of devout Saivates and Vaishnavates round the
year. The island town of Srirangam thus enjoys' the reputation of
being famous as Hari Hara thirtha kshetra of eternal importance.
