On account of its situation in Thiruvananthapuram, the capital of
Kerala and lying in the heart of the cosmopolitan pilgrimage city, this Muruga
kshetra is luring a steady influx of devotees throughout the year. Moreover,
the striking resemblance of this august archamurti to that of Dandayudhapani
of Palani, it claims special divinity and boasts of it as another plus point for its
immense popularity and unparalleled eminence. The sculpturing of the icon
exhibiting superb craftsmanship deserves highest praise. And it is beckoning
frequent visits by the pious Bhaktas. Regular agamic worship is offered with
utmost religious fervour. And among the periodical festivals, suklapaksha
Sashti festival draws unmanageable crowds. During Karthika and Vaisakha
nakshatras special prayer services are offered with due devotion, and they also
lure Bhaktas in large numbers. There is a sacred well in the campus supplying
water for abhishek purposes and it has a legend too. Among the very few
Murugan kshetras in the state of Kerala, this is passing for a centre of
pilgrimage for Muruga bhaktas and hence the conduct of all kinds of services
here in all seasons.
It is in the centre of the Kerala capital, so autos and four wheelers take
the Bhaktas to it at all hours.
