To mark this unique event, gods
caused a beautiful temple built to perpetuate the truth that commission gets
remission only on retribution. They named the place as Kumarakottam. Here the
Moolavar gives darsan flanked by Mother Parvathi on one side and Lord Siva on
the other as seen usually in Mount Kailas.
Many renowned Nayanmars visited this kshetra and offered worship
with their immortal sweet verses as flowers. One poet by name Kanda Peruman
received Murugan's compassion in a unique way. He was initiated into
composing poems only here which is akin to Kalidasa's episode. His
compositions were sung and popularised by Sachchiappa Sivacharya. Many.
awesome sports of Murugan were demonstrated from this holy auditorium. The
temple built in the Dravidian style of architecture is quite majestic with broad
prakara and a mahadwara surmounting an imposing tall tower. The courtyard's
are wide, and numerous mini-shrines are installed with many adorable deities.
Daily worship is offered with great devotional fervour and the annual festivals
are celebrated on a grand scale befitting the status of Kanchipuram, the erstwhile capital of several dynasties. There are many stalls
in the prakara catering to the needs of devotees.
It
lies in big Kanchi near Kanchi Kamakoti peetham, accessible by auto, cycle
rickshaw either from bus stand or railway station.
