Then comes to another' little shrine
installed with Idumban statue receiving worship too. There are two Pushkarinis
on the top for the benefit of sacred bath of the pilgrims availing darsan.
Another visit-worthy place is the Pambatisiddhar shrine, which has great
spiritual significance. This revered Siddhar dwelt and did penance for long. As
he tamed, lived and danced with the most poisonous snakes, he was aptly called
so. As he too demonstrated many miracles and became deified. Hence a separate
mini-mandir. Another miss-not shrine lying 3 km off the main temple goes by the
name of Uchchipillayar Koil. Devotees walk the distance and worship him. Above
all, there is grown to the right side of the temple, a queer tree embodying five
different trees and so called Pancha Vriksha. It is deemed very sacred and all
visitors invariably worship before entering the sannidhi.
The
temple authorities are striving hard to extend all help to the devotees, like
running buses from the foot of the hill and maintaining shops to sell pooja
materials, prasad and temple literature. This is a fast growing temple with
renovation programme taking rapid strides to rebuilding the entire structure.
It
is 10 km off Coimbatore, the famous industrial town of Tamilnadu, accessible by
town bus.
