This is yet another sweet poem in white marble lying in the vicinity
of Jain temples of Udaipur, reputed world over as the priceless immortal
sculptural marvel which neither age has withered nor agnosticism scraped of
its exterior or interior splendour. Though surrounded by Jain Mandir -
Chaumukh with its 144 pillars of unusual imposing immensity and
inexplicable sculptural beauty, trying to eclipse this shrine's indescribable
sparkle and ethereal polish, it cannot, nor has not succeeded in its attempt.
Could the solar eclipse for ever conceal the ineffable splendour of Surya
Bhagawan? If the visitors enter into the innermost part, Surya Bhagawan's
unexcelled excellence fills the eyes and lifts the souls to transporting them to
Surya mandal to offer obeisance due. Such is the architectural magnificence
and sculptural eminence of this shrine. Just as every temple in Rajasthan is a
single cellar with
spacious hall in its fore and broad courtyards around, this one is possessing
all the essential parts and what is more, it is exercising a tantalising effect
on the visitors by the play of light and shade, when the Sun Himself illumines
it with his smiling rays.
It
is worth an indispensable visit and recalls unending series of visits, if memory
is in sound condition. It lies in Ranakpur, 98 km off Udaipur, accessible by
four wheelers.
